I wrote this out not knowing that my point is. I got to the end and still dont, so maybe it just a vent, with kind suggestions welcomed?
TLDR: OH work stress. Crashed bike.
This is in relation to OH. I had posted before about his colleague and the issues.
His boss is getting weirder in behavior, and in relation to it all has an outside HR company involved (as they are small and no one is an HR qualification).
He arranged a meeting for last Thursday and was super clandestine about it. Told only the one OH has issues with, and the latest NEPO baby he has taken on (16yrs OH junior, and only experience as a handy man but now in charge of a 20yr mech tech and an other engineer with 2 degrees!).
Then on the Tuesday he told OH that the meeting was with the external HR, and also told him he was not allowed to discuss with ANYONE the meeting - inside or outside the company. But he also, never said exactly what the meeting was for.
OH has gotten anxiety related to his work, and in on beta blockers and anti depressants because of what has been going on. So he was anxious AF over it all of weds, and slept so badly Tues and Weds night.
Que Thursday....on the way into work he came off his bike. Was overtaking a car that he says sped up, and then another car came approaching so he went to pull back in behind the car and the old bike locked brakes and he and bike parted and he went 50m along the road.
He's not seriously hurt, but he is damaged to the point he needs to be very careful (fractured ribs and scapula) to avoid further injury apparently.
Boss expects him IN at the office. And he also has been vocal that he is worried about HIS liability in the crash given OH mental state at the moment. And now is pushing OH to try and claim compensation for the crash - which makes 0 sense as it was OH, a locked brake and a wet road.
He is now stressing him out even further. He is crying from the pain (medded up) and the stress.
Would we be out of line to ask for the doctors to issue a fitness to work note and ask that they put on it that OH is not to be contacted due to the stress work are causing?
He can work from home - he has his laptop its damaged in the crash but hats off to Lenovo - buckled screen and it still works. He can do what he needs to with minimal contact with his boss, and that's what he wants to do.
I am just getting super stressed as well now, as my MD has resigned so I am applying for anything and everything just incase the office does shut (its a location of a EU company). I have to take into consideration now OH mental state/stress when considering things, as well as kids/houselife.
OH is looking as well, but he has a 3 month notice period, and his boss is the kid of guy that WILL take legal action if he things he has been wronged (literally sued BP and 2 of their subsidiaries 2 times because of HIS own mistake/greed). The boss also knows a lot of other bosses in the industry (unsure if they actually like him at all though because as a person, he is like if you mixed citric acid and marmite together,
