Hi all……
I had a job interview - For a job I really wanted.
I didn’t get the job and I am so so upset.
Ive been working in job field for 26 years and felt it went really well.
To then get a rejection, any tips and advice to help soften how I feel greatly appreciated.
Thankyou x

There is some really good advice on here . We’ve all been there and it hurts.
When you’re ready - ask for a debrief- what could you have done better.( not that you necessarily could have done better- sometimes it’s all very arbitrary)
Frame it in a positive way so you come across as resilient and strong and determined. Say you enjoyed the process/ meeting them/ love the company blah blah … and whilst you were disappointed not to get the role you would be very grateful for their feedback. At least they will have to reflect on their decision making process- and you will look proactive and determined.

I agree I’ve such such amazing feedback!Ive been in my current job for 26 years so this is basically my first rejection probably why it hurts so much.
I have asked for feedback, which they gave. The deciding factor was that the other candidate had a little experience in the environment we would t be working in, that’s it, so they chose them. Wasn’t too much I could say to that, I understand.
I think though, how is anyone going to become experienced in a role if they never get the chance because someone who has a little experience has done it before and gets the job. Hard one this to swallow x
