Why would my overtime rate be slightly higher than my usual pay?

Please advise.

Work in school as support staff, on part time hours. My basic pay is £17.71 p/h.

My overtime pay was £17.93 and calculated at x1.

Is there a reason why the different shift is a different pay rate, as haven't been notified of any pay increases. Normally overtime hours are same as normal pay rate. This was for August pay.

I'm just guessing here but sometimes holiday pay is included in the overtime rate so that the annual leave entitlement stays the same

My vote is also some kind of holiday pay, whether it is additional holiday earned, or the holiday uplift required to make sure people don't refuse to take holiday because they'll miss out on OT.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm going crazy trying to work this out! Holiday pay was paid separately. I'm unsure if I've been underpaid all this time or I'm overthinking it.

It could be how ypu ate working out ypur hourly rate?

If you are on say FTE 35k, then your hourly rate is 35000/37/52=£18.19

If your term time contract +inset =95% of that, it may look like ypur hourly rate on your payslip is less 35000*0.95/37/52 =£17.28

So it could be the % on your contract?
