Anyone worked as an EHCP caseworker for a local authority?

Are there any EHCP caseworkers on here? My LA are advertising for this position and I’m tempted to apply but I’m wary as I’ve read mixed things about the role. Keen to hear from anyone who is currently doing/has done this job.

I work alongside statutory SEND officers (same role as you’re describing) and there is no way I would ever do their job. They are constantly dealing with really challenging parents who have been let down by the system and are often caught in the middle between inadequate management, schools/settings and families. The pay is nowhere near good enough for the levels of stress involved.

I went for a job as a SEND officer some years ago and very much the impression as that which @violetcuriosity describes. Stuck in the middle of angry parents and those making the decisions . I thought it would be a fun job where you met a variety of professionals, but no it wasn't.

Wasn't offered the job and wouldn't have taken it anyway.

I also work with them, tbh the stress levels are through the roof, parents think every decision is taken by them personally, and is deliberate to ruin their lives. I would not do the job.

All the ones I’ve known have had very short “ shelf lives” , no one seems to last long in the role and our authority is always recruiting!
