Voluntary reduced hours at work to avoid redundancies, has anyone experienced this?

Employer asked everyone to take voluntary reduction in hours to prevent redundancies until end of year. Anyone else experienced this and how did it work out? Anticipating potential feelings of resentment if some reduce hrs, others don’t. I am already part time and not happy to reduce hrs more but don’t mind doing my bit in short term although doesn’t seem fair if not everyone does this.

Happened in my dh's work. They were looking to "lose" quite a few hours or redundancy. My dh was only 18 months off state pension age so volunteered for redundancy. He was sick of work, constantly moaning, and the redundancy payout was generous given his length of service so he volunteered and was accepted. Saved everyone else loosing hours so they were grateful.
