Job re-advertised using details from my interview

I would post in AIBU but too scared of the flack. So I’ve just seen that a job I interviewed for at rhe start of this month and got a rejection for last week saying they’d hired someone « whose skills and experience align more closely with the needs of this position ». But just now I have seen the same job readvertised but with revised details that very closely echo words and concepts from my interview presentation and questions about what I said I would bring to the job and what I’d do in my first year. They still haven’t disclosed salary but when I interviewed I was told my current salary was too high for what they could offer.
I am really pissed off by this, I put a lot of effort in to the interview and application and it took a lot for me to even consider leaving my sector to move into this role and I feel like my ideas have just been ripped off.
should I email and ask whether it’s worth me reapplying given how close the new job description is to my interview pitch, or do I walk away and seethe quietly?

They don't like you as a fit for them but like your ideas

Probably they liked you - but can’t afford you. I would not re-apply because if they do that they will also pull other tricks in all probability.

So basically they are looking for a cheap version of you!

My dh a few years ago (pre covid) interviewed for a marketing position at a company and did not get it. He heard later that they did not hire anyone. Then a while later he checked their website and saw what was basically his interview presentation. Seems very much like they wanted some unpaid consultants.

Maybe they did appoint someone and the salary was too low and they declined? Maybe after the interviews, they realised their idea for the job was different? No one knows, but I personally wouldn't try going back.

Often job adverts have 'previous applicants need not apply'. If they were indeed interested and willing to negotiate, then they have your details and would have been in touch- but they haven't. Look elsewhere and best of luck.

It’s just rude though was my first response to seeing my stuff in the new advert.
i was going to offer to be a trustee if they didn’t offer it me because I really like what they’re doing but very much don’t like (now) how they’re doing it. If they want a mid-career person which is what they’d get with me and what the JD now looks like they have to pay for that! Also there is still no salary actually detailed on the job advert so it was very much a guessing game.
Ah well. I guess we just move on.

Can you say it’s your IP and they can’t use it? (Depends what it is) but in future when using decs for interview add a disclaimer - not to be used without permission, you do not permit assignment of use or interest and IP remains vested with you etc.

Years ago I remember my dad going through two days of interviews, factory tours etc and felt by the end he'd been used as a consultant for two days free advice on how to revamp the factory. I seem to recall he sent them a consultation bill, and they actually paid it! Seems it's still going on all these years later. I doubt sending a bill would work these days though.
