Exam invigilators

Does anyone work as an exam invigilator? I was wondering what it’s like, how much work do you get and most importantly where is the best place to look, is there a specific site or agency?

Also to add depending where you invigilate it can be very cliquey. One place invigilated was friendly and welcoming to new people the other less so.

I’ve always wondered about this job. My DC has a reader for tests, is it difficult to not help them a bit if they’re struggling to understand the wording? I have to really watch myself when helping DC with mocks to not reword certain parts of questions to make it clearer for them to understand. 🤦‍♀️

No you would be trained and it is made very clear what your duties are. Obviously you do feel for students who don't get exactly what is needed to answer the questions but it's totally inappropriate to 'help'.

I do this as part of my role within a college. If you can get in a sixth form there are plenty of jobs as exams are just consistent throughout the year.

I used to find scribing difficult when the candidate(especially if I knew them through school and had even covered the class when they were doing that topic. The temptation to pause and go "Really?" was very strong.(I didnt)😄
