Returning from maternity leave soon and feeling undervalued at work

So long story short - returning to work soon after maternity leave and feeling angry/sad/anxious about going back to my role.

My line manager is incredibly busy and has cancelled chats with me on my KIT days to talk about my return.

I’ve even written my own return to work plan and shared with her including questions but she hasn’t even looked at it.

I’ve put in huge effort into the business since I joined and I think I’ve feeling a bit deflated /undervalued by lack of contact and consideration but not sure if I’ve being OTT (there has been a death in the family - not a particularly close relation but unexpected).

context of some of the changes include:

  • 4 out of 16 of my line reports/direct reports have been moved to another team with no clarity on if they are coming back
  • my right hand man / deputy who was covering my role, given a new role elsewhere in the organisation (hand picked / no interviewing process) to cover another leaver and no discussion on backfilling or replacing them
  • significant increase in projects inbound into my team but no thought / discussion on resourcing capacity.
  • significant decisions affecting my team not being included in the decision managing for

I'm generally not a meek or unsure character and forge my own path/ direction in my organisation which is reflected in my senior leadership position but just wondering if I’ve lost confidence being out of the workplace.

(I will have a conversation with my line manager at some point but wondering if I’m being irrational in how I feel)
