How to stay motivated

4 months of job searching, countless interviews and waiting to hear back from people who have no urgency or decency to respond it seems.

How do you stay motivated? I am really struggling at the moment and feel like I am hitting a brick wall 😢

Watching with interest. Only a month since redundancy for me but I’m finding it hard. I’ve done all the job boards, applying directly, LinkedIn. A whole bunch of us were laid off at the same time and others are taking the summer off before looking but I’m in panic mode

Sorry you are in the same boat, it's hard isn't it. At least you are one step ahead of your co workers if you are applying already 👍

Also in the same boat. It's been 6 months here and am a bit broken by it. I am going to take a break from job searching by taking temporary work as I can't keep up with the battering to the self esteem! It's tough. Hope something comes up for you soon.

@Craftyrose sorry to hear you are in the same boat, it's soul destroying isn't it! I am also considering temporary work too, there will be Christmas jobs coming out before long!

Just out of interest, does anyone feel like it’s harder to find a job after having kids? I feel like I’ve had more no responses and the few interviews I’ve been to have been unsuccessful, all since my job ending in April whilst I was on Mat Leave with DS2. Am I just missing something obvious, or is it tougher at the moment?

I don't think having kids makes it harder, I have kids too but I think the market is particularly tough right now anyway. I have been ghosted by so many jobs it's ridiculous. Most don't even bother to reply and some interviews I have had don't even let me know the outcome, which I find really rude.

Maybe it's harder as you might not be able to apply for certain jobs but most jobs have a lot of flexibility nowadays.

I have got a 12 month contract since I posted but expect to be in this position again when that finishes. Good luck with your search 🤞
