I’m due to start a new remote job on Monday and I’m getting really worried because I’ve still had no onboarding information.
I’ve signed my contract, had my equipment delivered and as far as I’m aware everything’s gone through, but I don’t know what time I’m meant to start, who I’m meeting, whether there’s an induction or literally anything about the first day.
I emailed HR last week and she said they’d send my first day details soon but it’s now Tuesday and I’ve heard nothing.
I think what’s making it worse is that I’ve already resigned from my previous job, so my brain keeps going to “what if something’s gone wrong?” even though I know that probably doesn’t make much sense if they’ve already sent me a laptop.
I don’t want to keep chasing because I don’t want to be that new starter who’s emailing every couple of days, but equally I don’t know whether this is actually normal.
For those of you who work remotely or have started remote jobs, when did you get your onboarding information? Was it all very last minute or would you be starting to wonder what’s going on by now?
Just after some honest opinions really because I can’t tell whether this is genuinely unusual or whether I’m making it into a bigger thing than it is.
