Teacher pay rise and child benefit

I am starting a new teaching job with a bigger salary. I believe I will be paying about 10% to Teachers Pensions on a salary of about £65k. Does anyone here earn similarly as a teacher? Do you have to pay back any child benefit and is it simple to do? Will my HR department be able to advise, and do you think they would allow me to up my pension contributions if it made financial sense to me? DH has recently been made redundant and is currently not earning much at all. Thank you for any advice.

child benefit is after pension is taken off so you should be fine

No, you’ll be fine as child benefit is on your salary after pension payments, so you’ll be under the £60k threshold.
