Catastrophising all weekend

I have spent all weekend obsessing over something I did at work last week. I did it with good intentions at the time but worried now that it will be misinterpreted. Does anyone have any tips please about how to keep calm and stop dwelling? It has affected my family, sleep etc as have been a mess and very distracted.

I find at times like this, repearing to myself 'If worry won't help, don't worry'

That your worry is 'it will be misinterpreted' then it sounds unlikely it's a serious problem. Presumably you haven't done anything that will cost the business or a client any money or reputation. The likelihood is that no one will think anything negative of it at all, or may not even notice it especially. It's hard to say when we don't know what it is, but stop rolling that snowball one way or the other. I hope you can find some peace today and you will get it tomorrow to find that it's really nothing, as is most likely the case.

Thank you for this advice, it’s comforting.

I feel for your. I have been all weekend too and wish I could leave the company I’m at. I have a meeting in my calendar on Monday which doesn’t look good! Anyway, only 24 hours to wait and once I know I’ll feel better.

That’s such bad practice to schedule a mystery Monday meeting! If you are anything like me the mind just spirals with all the possibilities. Hope it goes ok.
