Would you worry about your job in this project situation?

I’m in a funny situation at work and not sure what to do. Im working on a project where my line managers manager is a friend of the client. I had to escalate the client to my manager and her manager and ever since I’ve been in the dog house. The project manager asked for how many hours we need to finish the project as it was under bid at the start before I joined the company. I provided the hours and the PM goes directly to my boss’s boss that the hours estimated was too much. I’ve been away and they went to a colleague to reduce the hours but no one is talking things through with me. My bosses boss is hardly speaking to me and the company I’m working on behalf of is not providing any input from their side. The culture unfortunately is v US - hire and fire and I think I’ll lose my job over this. WWYD?

It doesn’t sound good I have to admit. Have you tried to have a one to one with your line manager? What was the outcome if you have spoke to them?

I now have a reconnect and realign meeting next week whatever that means.

I mean it is permanent or a fixed term such as a 1 year contract.

I would ask them what a reconnect and realign meeting is. It doesn’t sound like a formal meeting.
