Recommendations for a home transcription machine with foot pedal

hi there. I am trying to find an effective transcription machine with pedal.
I can use at home, my boss has an extremely strong Irish accent and therefore what ever we do the dictation software at work doesn’t understand him, after many years of him waffling into a microphone prior to this system I understand him reasonably well, for that reason he would like me to try and source a system we can upload and I can use at home

I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions, the internet seems to have a quagmire of options, but I need to speak with real people to try and establish something that works and doesn’t lose dictations into the ether!

Oh come on! With the advent of AI, there really is no need for dictation software or an actual dictation machine. You’re doing yourself out of a job by using a dictating machine.

The OP is doing the transcribing, no? The machine with foot pedal is surely just to control the audio, so she can keep her hands focused on typing.

Having seen how copilot mangles the transcript of some people with 'accents' at work, I imagine a good transcriber is absolutely not doing themselves out of a job by continuing to effectively transcribe.

my boss has specifically requested this, the dictation through the system at work is AI assisted and they still get it wrong, my boss is spending extra time having to go back to it time and time again and when he has so much to do, he wants to go back to the old ways

Have you tried transcription software that allows you to rewind, slow down etc by pressing keys on keyboard rather than using a pedal? My memory is vague but I remember using it some years ago when pedals weren’t so available any more.

Having said that though, I’d probably get AI to transcribe, then just listen to the dictation and correct the transcription.
