I’ve read the historical ones but have a specific question I wanted to ask advice on.
For over a decade I’ve worked three days a week following ill-health. I used to do Tues, Thurs, Fri and more recently I swapped to Mon, Tues, Thurs. Always Wednesday off and no more than two days on the trot.
I’m about to start a new job and they want me to work Tues, Weds, Thurs. I think this could be positive re. The age-old Bank Holiday Monday issue people can have depending on Annual leave policy, also getting a long weekend (though this isn’t much use for hols when kids are school-age). I am just worried about powering through three days without a break.
I read somewhere that lumping all work days together is better for our circadian rhythms (!) but I have always enjoyed having a rest day. I am no longer ill with what I had years ago, although there may be some fatigue lingering from that. That could be all in my head though. I am in my mid-fifties so do like an afternoon nap every so often and can get mentally overloaded much quicker these days. So those are my worries about doing this pattern.
I am tempted to try it as I know it suits a lot of people, the problem is I don’t know if my usual rest day set-up is just a nice bonus or actually necessary for me.
