NHS job interview offer but on holiday

Hello

I have been offered an interview for a grade 7 post that I really would love and have alot I can offer

The advert didn't say an interview date, but the closing date was end of June. I didn't hear anything until this morning and have been offered an interview date for the end of July when I am on holiday (Florida, so big time difference too).

I have emailed immediately and explained, but am really worried this will mean I can't interview, or I will annoy them before I even get a chance 😕
The recruitment team emailed me back and said he is going to speak to the interview panel to see if they can offer another date

What do you think? Is that my chance blown?

I'm a manager in the NHS and interviewed somebody via Teams while they were in New York once! They may well just offer you another date. Well done on being shortlisted.

My experience is that it’s totally up to the interviewer if they’re willing to offer an online interview/later date.

I personally don’t move dates back, or might by a day, as I want them decided asap, I do offer teams interviews though.

the last set of interviews I did I wasn’t the main interviewer and he said no, he said he felt they needed to make the effort to be there (although that was as they lived the other end of the country, not because they were on holiday).

so basically totally depends on the interviewer.

Good luck, I hope they let you interview still. What role is it for?

Thank you! It is for a therapy team lead (I am a physio).

When I applied, I thought I'd hear much quicker than I did which is why I didn't really consider the holiday at the time. Typical!

I will just have to see I guess.

Dd once had a teams interview at short notice whilst on holiday (non NHS) - she had to take it on the balcony as that was where the best WiFi signal was!

She got the job, fingers crossed they make provision and you do too

I have frequently interviewed by teams in these circumstances - or waited till the candidate came home, depending on timescales.

Thanks so much everyone. I have been offered an alternative date for the day before we go away! Phew! 😎

Given the time of year I doubt you'll be the only one OP. End of July is the first week of the school summer holidays.

Ahhh that's great news OP, good luck!
