Moving from nannying and TA work towards classroom experience before PGCE

I have a degree in Education and have done TA part-time before. I am currently working as a nanny, so I do have experience looking after children. I have noticed that most TA positions are for SEN areas, which I unfortunately do not have experience in. I want to get some full-time experience in a classroom before starting a PGCE (with QTS).

Most TA positions are linked to SEND funding and you can learn on the job. It’s a good idea to get some SEND experience and knowledge before starting a PGCE.

All PGCE courses are by nature QTS qualifications.

I'm curious - given your experience, why do you feel the need to get full-time TA experience before applying for PGCE?

Absolutely incorrect. There are plenty of pgce courses that don’t come with qts which gooe will show you.

Haven't seen your other thread but suggest you go to an agency, get DBS cleared for September, and do supply at cover supervisor/non-qualified rates from Oct to Dec. Baptism of fire but will let you know whether teaching is for you x 🍀
