Can I rejoin a job process after declining an interview?

I was offered a role for a job but had an interview for another role but declined the interview due to the offer. I’ve changed my mind and now I’m interested in the job. The interview was meant to be yesterday I’ve messaged them but it’s weekend so don’t think they will get back to me but what’s the likelihood they’ve given the job to someone else or I’ll still be able to join back the process.

Only they can answer that question. Just wait til Monday and see what happens. It's worth a try.

Slim

Batties · 20/06/2026 16:23

If seems unlikely. You’ve shown them you’re not fully committed to the job

Chaletwest · 20/06/2026 16:26

Nobody here can answer that, but it’s unlikely they’d interview you after you declined interview unless they’ve got multiple roles that are proving hard to fill.

ThatCyanCat · 20/06/2026 16:35

Probably not, but you've nothing to lose by asking. Perhaps they'll like your nerve.

MummyWillow1 · 20/06/2026 16:37

They are entitled to say no. It is also likely they will say no.

Viviennemary · 20/06/2026 16:43

You might be lucky so don't give up hope. But a lot of places might think you are prone to changing your mind and might let them down again.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 20/06/2026 16:45

Nobody could possibly no, don’t turn down the job you do have until you hear if you can have an interview for this one though.

FortyFacedFuckers · 20/06/2026 21:20

I wouldn’t interview you now but you never know.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 20/06/2026 22:29

What happened to the job offer that you originally had?

I don’t think I’ll be able to pass vetting as it’s a prison job due to my mental health

Is this the job where you had psychosis after taking illegal drugs and they sacked you? So you can’t pass vetting for the prison service?

chillyputsomesockson · 20/06/2026 23:37

When I’m interviewing I plan days into my diary to do them, you may have missed the opportunity. Unless all of the other interviews were bad, or there is something particularly exceptional that you can offer the role, I just wouldn’t delay the process to make time to interview you. It may sound harsh but if I’ve already done the interviews and found someone who’d be a fit, I wouldn’t delay the process just to interview someone who changed their mind.

What was the other interview for that you turned down?

Overtheatlantic · 21/06/2026 00:08

It’s always good to try, as you have done. You were obviously short-listed for an interview so nothing has changed on that front. Just tell them your circumstances have changed.

LadyLapsang · 21/06/2026 11:20

Unless I knew you as a strong candidate and you had a really convincing reason such as a job offer rescinded because of a takeover etc., it would be a no.
