Hyopthetical question abiut claiming hours

I have an annualised hours contract where I do 20 of a certain task a year. The contract states 12 hours per task, and I am paid that contractually, spread in 12 equal payments (although the work is not evenly spread), but allows me to claim extra hours if it takes longer. Often they do take longer, I am meticulous about record keeping for the hours I work and the additional time is paid without question.

However, as I am becoming more experienced and more efficient at the task, I am moving towards a place where some of the more straightforward ones might take less that 12 hours. Would you still "claim" the 12 hours?

E.g. task 1 takes 14 hours so you claim an extra 2 hours.
Task 2 takes 10 hours but you leave them to pay the 12 hours of your contract.
Or they cross each other off and no one owes anyone anything?
