Second interview, what to wear? (NHS-PCN role)

I have been invited for a second interview tomorrow my first interview was yesterday (PCN role). I wore black ankle length trousers flat black loafers and a blouse. I don't know what to wear tomorrow and don't have lots of time or a different blouse. I have a sleeveless top but it sometimes shows my bra strap so that is out. I do have a black dress with a tan belt I have worn for interviews in the past but I usually wear black tights and it's summer, not sure if I can go bare legs.

Any help of suggestions, plus any tips for second interview would be great.

Is it with the same people as the first interview or different, or a mix? If different people I'd just wear exactly the same outfit again, if the same or a mix either buy a plain/simple new blouse or shirt from the supermarket and wear with the trousers, or the black dress (I think bare legs fine so long as it's below the knee or longer, you'll likely be sitting at a table anyway so panel will only see your legs when you walk in - or just buy some natural colour tights from the supermarket?

In terms of tips, what brief have they given you, was the first interview more informal/a chat with HR or the recruiting lead, and this is the 'proper' interview with the head honchos, or is it more vice versa? Obviously either way I'd be prepared with your standard answer about why you want the job and your skills and personal qualities and why these are a good fit, plus examples against a range of competencies from your previous work - again whether you can 'recycle' these from interview 1 depends a bit on panel composition and format?

I wouldn’t worry too much. Black is classic. I doubt anyone will notice. You could add a neck scarf, different jewellery and shoes to refresh the outfit and switch it up a bit.

The dress also sounds nice - bare legs fine unless you feel self conscious or the dress is above the knee. If so can you wear lighter tights? Or go with black tights if more comfortable- the temperatures have dropped now.

The main thing is that you look presentable and professional. Also that you feel comfortable and confident in your outfit.

Well done & good luck.

Tell us the brief for 2nd interview and role - clinical or managerial so we can help with questions/prep etc.

Thanks, I have found a top in the back of my wardrobe that is suitable and I will decide tomorrow if it's that or the dress. I have worn the dress for a few interviews, it is cooler so tights may be fine.

The role is a PCN clinical/technical role first interview was with clinical lead who leads the team I would be joining and the PCN lead. Second interview is with the PCN board of clinical directors and the PCN lead. There is no brief. First interview discussed about me and current role/employment history. Information about the role, some training requirements, and a few scenarios.

How did it go?

DeathMetalMum · 09/06/2026 08:17

Thanks. I was offered the position. Just waiting on contract information to come through etc. My proposed start date isn't until 24th August, due to my current notice period of 8 weeks and working around holidays booked over the summer (both mine and at the new position).

Second interview was only approx 20 minutes. Just going into more detail with clinical leads about experience, working under pressure and key aspects of the role. It's a side step from my current role and seems so much more organised already.

Fabulous! Well done. Sounds like the second interview was just a check in with the team.
Hope it works out- sounds promising if you already get a sense of it being more organised. 🤞🍀
