New job, new team, same employer and booked holiday

Hello,

I have an interview for a new job this week. It is the same employer but a different team and service unit. I am on holiday for 3 weeks in August based on my current working hours but if I were successful my hours would increase and it would be 3.5 weeks leave. It's booked based on my current days but I would need to get the extra hours agreed.

As it is the same employer (local authority) albeit different service unit and manager what is the best way to approach this? I feel it may be the one big stumbling block if I were successful and worrying about it already!

I work for a local authority and wouldn’t have a particular issue with this, but my service area doesn’t have any seasonal work streams or priorities.

On the flip side, I moved to a new role with a pre-booked holiday - no issues from my new manager.

How much notice would you need to give? That plus time for checks etc might get you beyond your holiday?

Wait til a job is offered and then work it out. Really no point until then.

Wait until you are offered the job. LA will almost certainly honour existing leave.

Really sensible and comprehensive answer. As often is the case, first response nails it.
