will changing my hours mean my boss can change my job ( commision)

i work for small family business in the sales/admin office. my maternity leave relacement is the owner girlfriend. i think his plan was to opena shop when i return and have his girlfriend run it, not sure if this is still the plan.
i am going to ask him if i can cut my hours to 3 days per week. i am just worried that he can change my commision structure as my basic wage only covers nursery fees and i do rely on my commision. he currently pays me 10% of sales. can he change this.

If you're doing the exact same job only for less hours then he shouldn't change how your pay is worked out, no, but he could refuse to change your hours. Do you have any reason to think he'd try and change your pay just because you would not be working as many hours?

I am assuming when you say 10% of sales you mean 10% of your sales, commission on what you do, rather than overall sales that are made? If it's an overall figure rather than dependent on your work, then yes it would be fair to reduce it if your hours are going down, just as he would reduce your base pay.

I am assuming though, that it's a commission thing whereby you make sales of £xx during your time at work, and you get your basic wage plus 10% of £xx. If you are working less hours then the £xx you'd sell would be less, so the 10% would be less as well.
