Work from home? Or self employed?

If you work from home or are self employed/freelance, what jobs do you do?
I’m struggling with the juggle of 2 young children, one in school, one in nursery and commuting to work. I’m looking at what careers are out there that I could look into. My commute is 40 mins at the moment, I work 3 days a week and me and husband are just about managing the drop off and pick ups but it’s not easy. No local companies in my job role want to offer part time hours. I can’t afford 2 extra days at nursery to go full time.

I went freelance with what I'd always previously done as an employee - accounts. If you are going to become self-employed, you need to already have a skill that is in demand by businesses. A lot of small firms only need people to do their finances part-time, and occasionally only for a few hours a month, so it always worked out well for me when dc were small. I could plan my working around nursery & school hours, and had anywhere between 2-5 clients simultaneously.
