Job share partner not shortlisted

I applied for an internal job with a job share partner, with them doing the larger part. We both declared this pre-application to his manager, who’s the same dept as him. I’m a different dept.
He’s not been shortlisted and invited to interview but I have.
Has anyone been in this position? We both got an email pretty late in the day so I’ve not had a chance to ask what this will mean, I’m thinking may have to withdraw as I can’t do the role full-time.
His manger has spoken to him briefly at the end of the day (obv not disclosing to him about me), all good terms and he’s fine with it as it was a sideways move, but I’ve not yet spoken to anyone.

Maybe they can take a part timer who is not a job share

In theory they could readvertise a job share vacancy, or they might have a compatible candidate shortlisted, but you really need to talk to them. Would you still want the role with a different partner?

You don’t get to choose your job share partner -

If you get offered the position and they know you want X hours they’ll have to fill the other part of the role

I’m not sure I would tbh, the role is new and specialised- statutory responsibility. It could be awful with the wrong person. Maybe with the right person another job share, but I’d be wary.

Having the right job share partner is so important. The wrong one can be a nightmare
