Kind of a red flag?

Hi,

I've just had an interview where I'd really quite like the job, maybe not so much the fixed term element but it just gave me a wave of self doubt on my own abilities. (my current employer are making life difficult and I don't know if I could do round two of your useless with someone else)

There was just one thing, the role holder had only done 11 weeks in the role I've gone for and it was presented as we don't stand in anyone's way when a better role internally comes up and that is why such a short time was done, it just throws me coming from having held ftc's myself in the past and prior to 2020 I'd have been called a job hopper myself, this maybe means something else?

I've noticed so many jobs out there are immediate starts, is that due to the it being an EmployER market? I mean I hear employers are more cost cautious of taking someone on then ever before, but where are all these jobs coming from that people really haven't occupied before.

So this person moved internally?

Girlonnaughtystep · 20/04/2026 19:28

Yes an internal move, I just never heard of anyone being able to move internally before a probation period is passed. Maybe they were incredibly good at the job to move up.

Or maybe the vacancy in the other dept was more pressing?
