Can non-working days be taken into account - sickness meeting

Hi,

I'm not to bothered about this and it feels like the least of my problems, although I maybe should if it means reference data could be ending up wrong?

But then I don't see a GP giving a fit note which ends on a Thursday, they'd surely note it up to say a Sunday.

My employer are trying to add actual non-working days (weekend and to my previous sickness a year ago 2 bank holidays they aren't operational) to the total sickness absence? is this allowable?

Our differences are like 10 days out, as I thought you are able to omit/exclude non-working days?

Non working days are included in the sickness period. I had this after a late miscarriage where I took 2 months off so my sickness was 60 odd days. As mine was pregnancy related it wasn’t recorded as sick though for references etc.

Ah thanks, in a way I’m so, so glad this has come before it potentially got me in hot water with any new employer, if it then looked like I was lying.
The last employer with a job offer did ask me how many days was taken there is no way I would like to say it wasn’t checked.
Sorry for your loss x

Thank you! I was so surprised to realise non working days counted.

Sounds like nonsense to me. You can’t be on two kinds of leave at once. If you’re off for holiday or bank holiday or it’s not in your contractual hours then you can’t also be off sick?

If NWD counted then on a week I am at work I’ve worked 40 hours but on a week i’m off sick it’s 84 hours? Bonkers. SSP doesn’t pay you 7 days a week.

Sorry I re-read and realised I sounded really hostile 😂 Didn’t intend to it just doesn’t make sense

Non working days count unless you declare fitness beforehand ie if you phone on a friday afternoon to say you are now fit to work your sick calculation stops there but if you wait till Monday the weekend days will be included in the sick day count.

If you are off sick Friday and Monday (assuming you don’t work weekends) that would be 4 days otherwise it counts as two separate episodes of sickness

Thank you, at first my Mum said they couldn’t do this but has seen the contract that suggests yes they can do this.

I was off Wednesday to Friday recently but they can call it 5 days. Due to the contract?

In December when I had a chest infection for 5 weeks and was called a marta for working by the head but I would have been subject to this sooner.
