Anyone work in the civil service? I have a probation question

Looking for any insight into this. It’s just occurred to me and of course I can email the careers email but thought I’d ask if any of you knowledgeable people may know immediately!

I’ve worked for the Office for National Statistics for 14 months. Passed the 6 month probation without issue. I’ve recently applied for and accepted a job with the Crown Prosecution Service. I applied as an external candidate but have had to complete an inter department transfer form which will transfer across my pension etc. I also don’t need to give any ‘formal’ notice to the ONS l

Does this mean that I won’t have to start a whole new probation period with the CPS?

thanks in advance

it does - once you’ve completed a probation period somewhere in the CS you don’t have to do another when you move departments.

yeah once its complete it’s done, you don’t have to repeat in a new dept.

You have completed probation. So long as your transfer form is completed correctly, your new department should know this.

@JehovasFitness god the transfer form! There were 12 steps on what do with it / who to send it to/ who to chase up etc etc before I’d even glanced at the form!

Yep. Lots of things are a needless bureaucratic nightmare.
