No future - how do you manage?

Are any of you single person households with only one income under constant threat of job loss? My employer is constantly reorganising and offshoring. Colleagues disappear from one day to the next, despite high work loads and long hours (company profitable and strong sector). It makes me feel very nervous. I have zero household income if my job goes and only 3 months notice, no redundancy payout. Feel like I can't commit to any long standing financial decisions, just keep going one day at a time. The lack of future dreams and hope is drepressing. Anyone similar and how do you manage it?

Keep looking for other jobs, use the one you have as a launch pad. Do not feel any (misplaced) loyalty to your current employer.

Good luck!

I’m the sole earner in my family of 4, my work is currently undergoing a huge merger and we may have our site closed down this year and all be made redundant, close to 400 staff.

I’m slightly concerned but there’s absolutely nothing I can do to change that from happening so I just have to prepare the best I can. I’ve ensured my CV is up to date and I’m keeping an eye on similar roles within my industry, I’ve saved up enough that if redundancy does happen my family will be financially secure for a few months until new employment is found and I have a couple of back up plans for if securing new employment fails.

Im more anxious of the faff of it all than the actual possibility of it happening if that makes sense. You need to make your own future, no one is going to hand it to you.
