New job nerves

Hi,
As the title says, I’m due to start a new job next week & just hoping it’s nerves but want to get my feelings out the way.
I currently work full time plus taking overtime on including weekends at one of the big supermarkets in the UK and I’m about to leave that job after 15 years to go back into a job that I originally left due to my now older children being very small and then having more children afterwards and just never going back into the profession.
I’ll be working back in a high school as a HLTA with better hours to suit my family and better pay.
I’m just wondering if there are any others who have gone back into the teaching industry after a big gap or even anybody who’s changed jobs after being after many years and being ‘too comfortable to leave’ then finally taken the leap.
I know in the long run this is the best move for myself and my family but the nerves are kicking in knowing my notice at my current job expires Friday and that will be it 😬
Thanks in advance x 🙂

Nerves are just your body preparing you for a challenge - it's the same physical response as excitement. They're a good thing and if you treat them as fuel they will help you (as long as you don't run away in response to them/ waste your energy trying to push them away).

It would be weird if you had left a comfortable role for a new challenge and weren't feeling nervous! Have you got everything ready? Journey planned? Outfit planned? Meals planned?

If you want specific advice about teaching, maybe report your post to Mumsnet and ask them to change the title for you so that relevant people can find you.
