Is there any way to raise this without sounding petulant and pathetic?

I'm in a mid senior role in a large-ish team and every week there is a recognition email to the wider directorate praising people for notable work.
I've had good reviews, good feedback, indication that I am being considered for promotion etc but I'm literally never mentioned on this email and it's beginning to really bug me.
Other people at my level get mentioned loads! I would say I have a good relationship with the higher ups, my work is more client facing than others who are working more on internal projects but that shouldn't matter surely?

I don't know if I should say anything or just suck it up. My inner 4 year old is screaming 'but what about meeeee' every time I get the weekly email.

Who authors the thing? Maybe buy them a coffee or two? you can give them some insight as to the client work, forward on a testimonial from Mary at ABC Client; share your revenue / customer service dashboard after a stellar q1… give them the content you want to see and make it newsworthy.

Also maybe a conversation around ‘I’ve been thinking about how to raise my profile so support my career progression... What avenues are available for that?’
hopefully that opens up a discussion on being on visible projects, speaking at team meetings, and (gold stars all around) a mention in the weekly newsletter.

Thanks, i will consider the 'hint hint' method but I'll be honest I'm not a fan of this newsletter/ email recognition thing as I think it's a terrible way to approach recognition in an organization, some people always getting mentioned, some never and it can come across as favoritism.

I can't work out if my strong inner reaction to it is irrational though. I honestly feel like Ive regressed to being about 5 and not getting called out in assembly to display a picture or something, not sure if anyone can relate.

Maybe it is triggering something from long ago.

It’s star of the week all over again! I have no suggestions but I would feel the same!

Oh I fully agree! Your other option of course is to just not read the thing…

For a while i was actually responsible for one of these communications. I made a real point of reaching out to people/teams who hadn’t featured for a while or who were dealing with essential but uninspiring work. I’d have rather axed it altogether but turns out it was actually well read by the management (and contributed to people’s promotions). Sometimes you have to just play the game.

We all know at school it’s only teacher’s pet or the naughty kids that earn star of the week! I wouldn’t worry too much.
