Civil service application forms...

Why are civil service job applications so bloody difficult?! Argh! There seems to be a mismatch between job ads/descriptions and what the application asks for.

For example, the application form talks about person specification within the job description but neither exist 🤔 It's just the job ad plus 'What you will be doing' and 'Who are you looking for'. And then the subsections within the form are not user friendly at all. Why a personal statement when you've just written about skills and experience? Argh!!!

Feels like an exercise in deciphering vagueness and ambiguity...

Is it just me?

Most are very specific about behaviours being focussed upon and examples required.

I find it very frustrating that a job ca say flexible/full time/ part time but never actually specifies whether they actually would offer part time or what the hours would be!

In my experience if the add says that the roles are usually fully flexible. Many many people start on school hours/term time contracts.
