How much notice before an interview?

I applied for a job. Deadline was Monday 8th. Interviews set to be Tue 17th. They let everyone know on 9th that they had a lot more applications than expected so interviews moved to following week Tue 24th (next Tue). I haven't heard anything so I'm assuming I haven't got through 😢.

How much notice of interview is it usual to give? Obviously people can't be booking time off at the very last minute (lucky for me, it's a day I don't work). Having said that, my last 2 interviews only gave me 2-3 days notice, which I was surprised about.

It’s policy in my public sector org to give at least a week’s notice for interviews. We also inform all candidates if they’re not successful at application round (same time as successful ones), I wouldn’t take no news as bad news yet. They may delay again if sifting is taking a while.

I'd try to get them out by Thurs/Fri at the latest. I want to turn recruitment around quickly as people are often looking at multiple jobs.

In my industry at this time of year it can be within the next day or two as notice period is fixed for everyone and looming.

It’s hard to tell. I’ve had interviews where because the first stage dragged on they would play catch up and I’ve had second 2 days later and third the day after. I’ve also had ones a week apart. Generally we say if you’re applying, you’re ready no matter what the turnaround time. So practice as if it’s coming and stay positive. Good luck 🤞🏻
