What do I need to consider before cutting my hours?

I’ve been in the job 10 years, I’m now 61, so want to go to 3 days a week from September (I’m in education - support staff). Financially it works but what else do I need to consider before I have the conversation with the Head please?

How many insets will you be required to work.

Are you expecting to be replaced for the other 2 days, or to hand over work? Be careful you don't end up with a FT workload in 3 days.

As with any flexible working request the main criteria to be considered is business need, so you need to be able to show that the business won't be impacted.

Have you considered how/if this would affect your pension?
