Currently employed in a split role in the NHS - 0.6 WTE Band 7 substantive role, and 0.4 WTE Band 8a secondment. The secondment was initially for a year but I've been doing this for three years now.
Been given the opportunity to move into a FT Band 8a role - initially as a secondment for nine months, but will definitely be extended, although no chance of it being made permanent. Initial thoughts from my boss (although not confirmed by HR) were that I can't be seconded from a secondment, so would have to go back to my Band 7 role full-time.
The new role is a good opportunity, but at the end of it I would be taking a pay cut of £9k a year, which I really really can't afford to do (massively in debt). I think my only options are to a) hope they restructure while I'm in the secondment or b) keep applying for permanent 8a roles while on secondment - although they really are rare as hen's teeth!!!!
