Interview at 51

Evening all,

As kids are teenagers now and wife has her ideal career, I have applied for another job and received an interview. The role says attitude and aptitude are more important and will train in other areas needed. Thing is, I am 51 in April and thinking I am too old and the company would just look at someone who has 30+ years of work life left and invest in them.
Its not a junior or trainee role as you are expected to have a similar background from cross training industries.

Would be interested to hear similar aged people's views

Many thanks

I don’t think any recruiter considers longevity these days - there is no such thing as a job for life, and people are actively encouraged to have a variety of jobs and experiences. So a 25 year old could still bugger off for a new job in 4 years. I’m 53 and I’ve moved roughly every six years. Like they say, it’s all about attitude and aptitude, and they could still get a good 15 years out of you if you both want that. Good luck!!
