Leaving work and UC

Long story so bear with

husband works full time, I currently work part time but on mat leave atm, returning in April and need to return for 3 months otherwise would need to pay omp back - my eldest is autistic (receives HRC and LRM) my daughter we think is also on the spectrum so exploring that with school and my anxiety lately is through the roof (just been put on sertraline to try)

my job is incredibly stressful and my sons needs are becoming even more intense than they already were and I can’t see it working I need to be here to help his full time carer, my question is I’ve checked a UC calculator and we’d be entitled to it if I had no job but I have no idea how it all works from when I hand my Notice in and how UC works I understand that my last payslip is taking into consideration for UC? But will the month after be fullUC amount as I’ll no longer have any income?

sorry just need to know how it all works - I’ve managed to put a months worth of wages equivalent to one side to cover bills if there’s a gap as I know if takes 6 weeks or more sometimes etc I just need advice from people who have done this

I think you need to seek formal advice….if you voluntarily leave work and then claim UC you would normally be subject to a sanction period hence potentially much longer before your first payment .As you are leaving for a particular reason to do with care responsibilities then I don’t know if this would mitigate or not ….and whether what you can claim is impacted seeing as you aren’t actually available for work? As I presume you also have a baby this may also mitigate your circumstances.
