Job move from web developer

My partner is a web developer. Self.taught so no degree, nearly 20 years experience.

He feels the bottom has fallen out of the market and that AI will remove a lot.of.these roles. He's getting depressed.

I want to suggest looking at other roles - any ideas? He's got good people skills but has never managed. He does a lot of interviewing for his current workplace.

Currently earns £70k.

Rather than start again can he maybe upskill in the use of AI in IT? I know in my IT role there’s lot of interest in data engineers and those who are skilled in using AI with data,,,,

is there any opportunities to move sideways or pick up some different type of work with his current employer….

He’s absolutely right. My advice would be to move to the BA space between the requirements gathering and AI prompting. His skills will come in handy in fixing what the AI gets wrong. There are plenty of BA related courses snd qualifications available on platforms like plural sights
