Apprenticeship at 40?

I have worked in my industry 20 yrs. Been moving around alot in the last 5 yrs trying to find the joy in work again. For the past few months I have been considering a career change but not sure where to move to.

I've now seen a trainee, apprenticeship option and it excites me and ive been mauling it over for a while.

I guess the question is would you, or have you done an apprenticeship later in life? Or have you retrained? Was it worth it? Did you or do you enjoy it? Anything I should be considering beyond the am I too old, can I still learn something new?

I did one at 43 and have recently applied for another. I like learning new things!
