New career ideas

Has anyone started a new career in their 40s?

I always thought I would know what career I wanted by now. I turn 40 at the end of the year and stuck in a CS job that I don't like.

Has anyone got any success stories where they have started a new job/career later on in life. Did you need to get any qualifications or experience first?

I started with this company when I was 37 - started as an admin assistant and am now an account/project manager. I had no knowledge or experience in this industry.
It is possible and I do not have any of the qualifications that similar jobs postings are asking for (degree, experience in pharma etc) but because I have worked my way up - accounts assistant to production assistant to account executive to junior account manager to account manager I know have equivalent experience so if I did want to swop jobs I would hopefully have no trouble!

I used an ASHI home inspector practice test prep myself before sitting for the exam, and it really helped me figure out which sections I kept tripping over, especially electrical and HVAC. The instant feedback made it easier to see what I actually knew versus what I only thought I knew, so it took a lot of stress off while studying.

What’s CS? What are your interests?
