Royal navy nursing

Hello everybody,
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of working for the royal navy as a nurse?
Im thinking to apply as a royal navy nursing officer. From what I could read about it, nurses rarely get deployed. Is that true? One of the main reasons for applying to be in the navy is the opportunity of travel, so I cannot see much point if I will only be working in a hospital in the UK.
Also when working in a hospital in UK, how long do you spend in one hospital? Does that hospital location becomes your permanent base or do u move around different hospitals?
Any insights would be great. Thank you for taking the time to read my post x

They made a series which is now on iPlayer when they first deployed HMS Prince of Wales, it was during covid, have you seen it, doesn't answer your questions but would be worth a look if you haven't.

There’s nurses on the carriers plus some other vessels, yes definitely get deployed.

I looked into it some years ago. You had to sign up for a long time to be posted to interesting places ie. Hong Kong. If you signed up for the minimum length of time you spent it in Portsmouth or Plymouth, I suppose it could be different now though.

I o ly know th at its ridiculously hard to get in the RN , anything at all on your medical records they don’t like the look of three do not want you . My son broke a finger when he was 11, that was too much risk for them! Despite us providing medical evidence it has d caused him no problems since. Also anything on that sounds even a bit like asthma, gp visit for a recurrent cough ? You’re fucked. But good luck though, I mean people do get in!
