Part time work

Looking for work at moment.

Sent a job it’s being advertised as part time 4 days a week and salary is pro rata so 4/5ths.

30 hours per week over 4 days. Salary is £60k so they are paying £48k.

It seems like you would end up doing a full time role in 4 days for 4/5ths the money. Job is busy and fairly senior does not appear to be a part time role.

Also it is on site every day no hybrid working at all.

Seems not so great.

Anyone come across this it’s not full time and not part time - feels like worst of both worlds.

At my last job a colleague had a 4/5 day working pattern. We were both in the same senior role. Same workload as me (which was actually unmanageable in FT hours as well). Working 4/5 is one of the worst patterns imo, unless you have a job with clear widget based delivery targets that can be pro rata to match your hours.

I do 30 hours over 4 days. It's the most common working pattern among my friends. I can see where you're coming from, but there are definitely benefits. You get a day off a week but are still in the office enough to not really be seen as a part timer. I think you can still progress your career on 4 days a week, it's probably harder to do so on 3 days.

Works for me, but I'm very strict about only working the hours I'm paid for.
