Do you enjoy it? What are the best bits? The worst? Does it pay enough? I’m trying to decide whether to go ahead and get the qualification. I’d want to teach online from home. I’d be grateful for any thoughts or experiences.

I did CELTA 20 years ago - full time over a month or so - and then taught in Japan and Poland. Back before “online” was a thing!

don’t regret a moment. But these days the market will be very saturated especially as an online teacher where in some ways you’re competing with the various excellent language learning apps. I’m not sure where you’d start to build a business other than there must be companies that employ EFL teachers to teach remotely across different time zones etc.

I think there are online platforms that match tutors to students but I need to look into this more. I was wondering about the competition from apps too.
Did you teach abroad for a long time or was it short term contracts?

I did one academic year contract in Poland that could have been renewed

I had a three year contract in Japan again it could have been renewed
