Big announcement tomorrow

I work for a large organisation. Tomorrow I will find out if my job is at risk as part of a big restructure. I've been there for 18 years so this isn't my first rodeo and usually embrace the change but this one feels different and I am really worried about either losing my job, or it being changed into something I don't want to do. I would get a decent pay out if I am made redundant but what I do is very niche and it won't be easy to find an equivalent role, and I currently get alot of flexibility due to a chronic health condition and doubt I will find another role which supports me in the same way. Ive worked so hard to get to where I am and scared about starting over if it comes to it.
No point to this post really other than getting it out my head and maybe a hand hold if the news is bad 😞

I'm sorry, I have been through the same several times. I find it calming to play out different bad case scenarios in my head and plan what I would do. The decent redundancy payment is some comfort, it buys you time.

I feel for you. Have been at my place of work for 23 years. Have just gone through my 6th restructure. Unfortunately I’ve ended up with a role that I really don’t want. I hope it works out better for you x

Thank you. I think the lack of control / not knowing is the hardest so hopefully tomorrow will at least allow some solid planning of next steps if it's not good news. I like the idea of playing out the scenarios so at least I have a vague idea of what to do depending on the outcome...

Oh I'm sorry 😔 I suspect that's my most likely outcome as I know they are trying to avoid compulsory redundancy. I guess on the plus side there will probably be yet another restructure in a few years so there might be a chance for us to move back to a role we like 🙈

Quick update: my role has been deleted and I haven't been mapped into anything. I will end up with a job at the end of it all but it will either be a role at the same level I'm at now bit dojng something I dont want to do, or a demotion but I keep pay and conditions for two years. Either way not great but better than no job 🤷

Oh, well, at least you know and it could have been much worse. Whatever happens, you're protected now for two years so if you end up somewhere you don't want to be, you have time to look at other options. Best of luck with the process!

Thanks. Yes, relieved to know and be able to plan accordingly
