Should I take new job?

Work in a large accountancy firm - really proud to work there and generally like my job and feel fulfilled. However pay reviews have been rubbish and lots of things I do are not recognised at pay review time and promotion is hard. I have expressed my concerns but nothing changes. Have been offered another job - much smaller not as well known company but would be much higher up and pay significantly better. Worried about the perception of going to a smaller brand and it looking like a backwards move as most people would be pleased working at my current firm and leaving behind work and team I enjoy but equally feel the better pay would make a difference. Really feeling confused

Just go.

Their reputation doesn't pay your bills.

I know this field and I would move if you have done a number of years at the current place. A range of different sized clients and experience will benefit you in the long run. Plus more pay now is a certainty Vs only a possible reputation benefit in the future.

More responsibility is a step up and will be interesting - you could always go back later at a more senior level. More pay is always a bonus too!

Thank you - really helpful. Probably should have added that in early 50’s now so suspect this would be a final career move. I suspect building up income is better now over pride in job but it really is just a move all about money.
