Becoming a Detective with Surrey Police

I am 44 yrs old mum to 2 DCS, under 10. I have always since i was a young, wanted to be a Detective. I have had corporate jobs until i had kids, when i then ran my own business and now have a term time only fairly dull job in a College. I am weighing up a return to the corporate world, which i feel i know deep down would just give me a short-term honeymoon period lift (mostly financially!). I revel in a fast-paced, problem-solving job and I am fascinated by crime.

I feel it at least it will be fairly AI proof (from a job security perspective!)
Am I totally crazy to want to consider joining the police force? Particularly keen to get advice from anyone who manages to balance having a family with a Detective role. My DH has a middle management corporate job that has flexibility (ie. WFH 2-3 days a week) however we have zero family locally to help with the inevitable gaps in childcare that a job like this demands.

Any advice welcome!
