Job change at 40

So I’ve been in the same job since leaving school.
I work as a medical receptionist and I’ve always loved it. The people, the clients and especially the hours.
I was going to leave once but then found out I was pregnant. My employer then offered me whatever hours I wanted so I’ve always just stayed put as I have perfect hours to fit in with family life. The money is rubbish but the good hours are worth more for me- we have no help with childcare/school pick ups.

Anyway- kids are now at senior school and I now feel I’m free to look for something else- I need a change!

  1. will I find a job seeing as I’ve been in the same basic one my entire working life?
  2. the only qualifications I have are an nvq 2&3 in customer service
  3. What kind of jobs can I apply for seeing as I have zero qualifications
im scared no one will want me 😟

What is it you want to do?

I’ve done very similar stayed put because of the hours, started searching and applying properly and ended up getting some pretty good job offers, the job I have now is a dream job, can’t believe I never took this step earlier, with a big pay rise and car allowance , very flexible too.
customer service fits into a lot of roles so use that to apply for other roles, what is it you’d like to do ?

No idea! It sounds mad but a lot of jobs advertised I don’t even understand what they are!
I’d like an office based job. I’m also a bit done with customer service!
People have become so angry over the last 5 years it’s starting to get me down

The experience you’ve got from customer service and reception work would translate well into a sales job
