Is there any future in teaching?

I have done a TEFL course online and plan to do a bit of teaching on Preply. It will be nothing more than side hussle, of course. If I enjoy it, however, I may re-train properly (i.e do a CELTA). But I keep wondering if there is any point. The CELTA would be stressful and exhausting and would cost me £1,200. Is AI soon going to replace teachers? At the speed it is progressing, how long before an English language student can interact with an AI teacher who will give them personal tuition – remembering where they got up to last lesson, correcting their mistakes, marking their homework, etc?

AI is not able to personalise teaching like a human. People will always want the personal touch. Go ahead and do it. The jobs are not very well paid but are fun.
