What jobs do you all do? I used to be a Teaching Assistant but I've said I'll never go back to it because children with complex SEND needs are dropped on you with no training or additional pay (I have a SEND child myself so I know it's not the children's fault). Currently, I work as a midday Supervisor in a primary school, and as an exam Invigilator in a secondary school - I've also been helping out in the reprographics department while the usual person is on long term sick leave. I need something that works around my 5 year old as my hubby is an HGV driver so works long hours and non-set days. We also have no childcare help within family or friends.
I'm also studying an English Literature degree but don't want to teach. I've not long turned 40 and feel really lost.

Admin in a school? May offer the hours you want without being in the classroom.

Book publishing might be a good fit for you, something on the editorial side. Many jobs these days have flexible working arrangements that you could fit around your child.

That would be my dream.

I also worked as a Teaching Assistant. I loved my job at first, however it became more of a babysitting role fir those with SEND who could not be in the main classroom. I am currently working in an office in FE, which is good as still term time. However, my youngest is now in year 8 so I am looking at other options. I'm also studying an open degree with The OU. 42 and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up lol 🙃

That's exactly how I felt about it, just ended up babysitting. That sounds really good. I love the Reprographics role but it might not even end up as a permanent role.
What degree are you studying?
