Going back after a break

Does anyone else find it hard going back to work after a break? I don't just mean after getting used to pleasing yourself and getting up whenever you like. I mean like full on imposter syndrome and paranoia almost bordering on anxiety. I'm normally happy in my job and enjoy my work but feel sick with dread having to go back tomorrow. Is it just me?

Yep. This time of year is the worst for it too! Just try to recognise it as just that. Once you're back in the swing of it, you'll be just fine. Make sure you're extra kind to yourself and give yourself lots of rewards!

I get it!

Im due back Monday but I feel like I could run away. It prob looks really bad from me since I own the business 🥴 but yeh I feel the same as you describe.

Feeling exactly the same, dreading Monday!

Thank you so much for replying when i needed it. I went in today and it really wasn't as bad as i'd built it up to be. Still dreading next week as I have to deal with something unpleasant. But that's life I guess. I hope it's ok for everyone else that's going back Monday.

I’m not looking forward to having to say happy new year 900000000 times, and also I left myself a pile of shit to clean up as I designated everything as a 2026 problem! Glad your return was ok, I know mine will too as I actually do enjoy my job. But the transition is hard, I’d definitely comfortably have an extra week off and the be ready to return under my own steam.

Some people at my workplace have booked extra time off. Personally i feel the longer I have off the harder it is to return. Was hoping to win the million on premium bonds this month & retire!
