How long for you to learn about interview outcome?

Hi,

I applied for a role within my (global, private sector) organisation, based in Ireland. I got my interview surprisingly quick, after 4 days.

This is not a “high up there” role, rather basic, but it would get me from a cleanroom role into an office environment.

When I asked at the end of the interview how long it might take to hear back, roughly, they said “first week of December”.

I still haven't heard back. How long would you leave it before you'd ask again about the outcome? Or would you not ask at all?

I very much would like the job and am on tenterhooks since last week, just looking for experiences of others who would have been in a similar situation.

Thank you!

If they said you'd hear first week of December and you haven't had any news yet I'd politely chase. Maybe they have offered it to someone else - but that person hasn't yet accepted so they don't want to say no to other good candidates. Good luck! I hope you get what you want! May be something like:

I wanted to follow up regarding my interview for the [Job Title] position on [Interview Date]. During our conversation, I was informed that an outcome would be communicated within the first week of December. As I haven’t yet heard back, I just wanted to check in and express my continued interest in the role.
I remain very enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to your team and would greatly appreciate any updates you can provide regarding the next steps in the process.

@InSpainTheRain
Thank you very much, that is helpful! I’m still on tenterhooks…my current boss told me that things are typically slow with our HR, but I think at this stage I will email them along the lines you suggested.

Thanks again!
